Learn the theory and practice of ACES developed by the Science and Technology Council (STC) of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS). See how ACES is set to improve and simplify post-production workflow, restore and preserve current motion picture assets, and create a standard that is ready for future technologies. It can be quicker, cheaper and better quality than conventional workflows. This one-off (for Sydney) class is suitable for experienced cinematographers, DITs, post production professionals and supervisors. It assumes a basic knowledge of post production techniques but no previous colour science knowledge is needed. Netflix and many VFX departments prefer ACES, find out why.

Includes how ACES is best applied to the DI pipeline from on set to TV set and how it aids CGI/VFX integration. Learn to use input transforms (IDT), output transforms (ODT) and how to create your own ACES LUTs. A basic understanding of post production techniques is expected but no previous colour science knowledge is required. Resolve will be used for demonstration but information applies to any ACES compliant software.

Kevin Shaw is also presenting HDR Masterclass and the Colour Science and Calibration course in the same week. These two classes are more advanced but recommended as companion classes for anyone taking An Introduction to ACES.
